Red Bull
an anti-ad

The original Red Bull ads symbolize people who are great thinkers and great athletes. The catch phrase “Red Bull gives you wings” implies that you will have endless supplies of divine-like energy. The target market appears to be college aged students as the imagery is always of young adults having amazing adventures. Lately, Red Bull advertisements have taken a shift towards emphasizing the need for energy in the college arena. Primarily, implying endless amounts of energy helps you to study and subsequently achieve great things. They use Einstein as if to say, “You can be a genius if you unlock your energy potential.” As such, Red Bull’s newest slogan is: “Vitalizes body and mind.”
I choose to make an anti-ad of Red Bull to resist its message of energy, youth, resiliency, and freedom because I believe the people they use to embolden the ad are those who are already active and healthy. As such, these people would not actually drink Red Bull because they know that a healthy lifestyle is the key to good energy. It is therefore my conclusion that Red Bull is for people who are too lazy to actually take care of themselves. Thus, the meaning I give in my Red Bull ad is the irony by which people who drink Red Bull only need the energy to waste away their already lazy lives: no matter how much Red Bull they drink, they will forever be lazy. Just one man's opinion.
